Venice became my favorite city in Europe along with Prague, Bruges and Ghent. The island city is captivating and unbelievable. This is the very reason why Venice consistently ranks as one of the most beautiful cities in the world (if not the most beautiful). One thing that is unique about Venice is that this city is situated in the sea and it is hard to imagine how people built this incredible place.
A day trip may not be enough and I recommend staying like 3 days and booking accommodation nearby.
Here are some of the top places you should visit in Venice.
St. Mark Square
If you purchased a boat ticket, and you get off at San Marco, the heart of Venice is just a couple of meters away. Get incredible photos while you stroll around the cobble stones in this square.
Campanile de San Marco
Standing in St. Mark Square, I recommend that you climb the tower to appreciate the beauty of Venice as you get to see the picturesque city on top. It is a must thing to do when in Venice. Just prepare for 8 EUR for the entrance fee.
Venice is best known to its hundred canals and bridges are everywhere. And Rialto bridge is the most famous one among the hundred bridges in Venice. The beautiful bridge showcases its symmetry design that often represents Venice picture-wise.
St. Mark’s Basilica
Right in front of Campanile de San Marco, St. Mark’s Basilica is going to take you hundred years back as you will realise how detailed the designs and art were curated a millennium ago. Yes, we are not talking about hundred years but thousand years. This church remains one of the famous in Italy and is considered as a top landmark in Venice.
This tour must not be missed. You will admire viewing incredible architecture as the boat navigates through the canal. Allot sometime to visit this attraction (ideally half day) and you will surely admire the beauty of Venice!
