Creating a website is not for technical people anymore. Depending on your purpose, you should be able to sort out how you can make your own website – and if you are into blogging, you should be able to start from there.
I am talking about static website for this tutorial so you will be able to put all your details there, let say you are selling a product and want a website you can share to your clients. Having a website is a good start so that you can refer your clients there and probably do something more.
This skill may not be suitable for some but if you know the basic steps, you should be able to earn (maybe your friends or relatives want to have a website) then you are on the right track.
Again, don’t be afraid to follow the steps and it won’t hurt you. You do not need to code!
What you need?
1.Laptop or desktop – obviously.
2.Credit/Debit Card or Paypal – you need this to pay for your domain and web hosting provider.
What is a domain?
Well, if you have a company name, you technically will have to use it as a domain name (e.g facebook.com, google.com). But there are instances where the name of your company or the name you want to use is already taken. So the very first step is to search if it is still available and then you can buy it.
What is web hosting provider?
In a nutshell, you are saving your website data to a certain service provider. They are the host of your website, in traditional way, you will buy server or computer that needs to be up and running 24/7 if you want your website to be accessible anytime. But with hosting provider, you are taken care of with only annual payment which would not cost you more.
What is next then?
I personally recommend using Bluehost. This hosting provider gives you flexibility to create subdomains and it has more options in terms of what type of sites you can build.
The other option is Sitegound and signup for the basic service. You should be able to signup for both domain and hosting in this site. Personally, I highly recommend this service provider and I have been using this for a while now.
Once you have a domain ready, you are up to the next step where you will setup WordPress and the good thing it is integrated with Siteground. It’s just a click and your site will be ready.
As you can see in my screenshot above, I have installed WordPress. You do not need to do special configuration during installation because it is automatic installation.
What you need to worry after is on how you will put content on your website. To login to your wordpress account, simply add ‘wp-admin’ after the URL.
Simple right? The next step you need to check on is how you will play around with your wordpress website. There are a lot of tutorial in wordpress and many people are using it so you should be able to find answers to some basic configuration questions.
And you may need logo for your website, try Fiverr as there are a lot of quality logos you can choose from at a very low cost.
